That isn't external regulation in the sense of academic/other moderation. For example, if one was to ask the British public what the best university in the UK (or perhaps even world) was they'd say "Oxford". But it isn't in many areas - my old university has been ranked ahead of it in some areas and even ranked #1 "overall university". Yet it's rarely mentioned as "the best" by the general public, though if prompted they may rank it as "very good". Notoriety /= quality.
In the same way, car manufacturers have their products independently tested by several different groups. Skoda used to be laughed at but have had praise for some of their new cars.
I'm not saying that LBSA is bad in any way. I have had no experience of a LBSA runner, and I doubt that I will - I'm in a guild with good runners and have taken it up myself recently. If it was terrible, then most people would not say it was good. All I'm saying is that public opinion is not a clear indication of something's "quality".

It's a bit much though - expecting someone to pay for an entire group is rather mean. I only charge per person when I'm running.

Well some people like to get things done just like that so opt to pay for the group. Also, i'd like to see someone who can make copper --> grotto for 6.5k without dying not in LBS.

I wouldn't mind seeing someone FROM LBS do it. A video would be fine, but better make it at least 640x480 32bpp, not interlaced (progressive), using an mpeg4 encoder (xvid, divx, etc.).

Dying on a run isn't a problem in my book - it's if you die and then can't complete the run, THEN it's a problem.

Runs are still possible with 60% DP, sometimes much easier, as all the monsters are clumped that reminds me of when I tried to run to Droknars at level 10. Got within throwing distance of Dreadnoughts Drift (or whatever is after Lornars) and died. But it was funny, the other 2 people in the group (runner I had wanted to run me had died way back) we're cheering me on and stuff.
How much do you LBSRA guys charge for specific lessons? ie. running Sanctum Cay, Elona's and a few areas of Southern Shiverpeaks. I would join, but a) I don't have 15 ecto, and b) since I can run everywhere except a few places, I don't want teaching for the others (I am sort of turned around about you guys, so if I get 15 ecto, we'll see what happens )

*proudly stated*
I have NEVER accepted clientel, run anyone for any profit, or done anything productive in the guild at all other than helping other guild members with various things ^.^
That's a sterling attestment to how lazy you can be and still stay in the guild
45k is the value of our time that it would take to make a run like Copperhammer->Grotto. 6.5k~ is a reasonable price per person for that type of run, typically I would've charged 3.5k for Copperhammer->Iron Mines and 3k Iron Mines->Grotto before I was in LBS anyways.
Because we offer a service that's on demand, it's not up to us to find a party for a run. If you can find a group of friends to share the cost then we'd gladly run all of you at an arranged time. We're not going to sit around spamming "Runner to Grotto x/8 slots left, 6.5k" We have better (and more profitable) things to be doing with our time. (Well, everyone except me. I sit around Grotto giving out gold for trivia contests xD)

For those of you that have paid the 15 ecto to enroll in this academy shame on you.
I have learned by myself how to do the majority of the runs that are on this list just by trial and error. It does not take long at all to learn how to exploit certain skills in certain areas and use certain mods on weapons in others.
I am not saying that this isn't worth it, and I applaud you LBS for starting this up to teach people, all I am saying is that 15ecto is better spent in other places.
Spend some time and learn yourself, that is what makes a great runner, not someone who follows a template taught by someone else, you have to learn all of the skills for yourself so when certain things are patched or changed you can easily adapt to it.
GJ you guys for starting this up but shame on you to those that are too lazy too teach themselves

@Sniperz53.
Most of us knew how to run effectively before joining LBS. Many of us learned a few very minor details in actual running practice. Most of us paid the 15ecto for 2 reasons:
1. We can afford it, and we're thrill seekers looking for ways to spend our money.
2. We wanted to meet other people like ourselves that worked well together to offer this type of a service.
I will tell you right now that 70% or more of the people enrolling in the academy already have a good idea how to do most of the runs offered.
It's funny, because outside of LBS members, I don't see a lot of people offering a quick (less than 5 minutes, less than 2 minutes really) run from Granite->Copperhammer. Small tricks like that are worth it imo, along with the business network it pays for.

All the more power to you for learning these tricks.
I have yet to see one of these runs in progress so I do not know exactly how efficient you are. I like yourself have excess gold and am looking for a gold sink and was debating enrolling in this.
However I need to know how much time is needed to learn these courses? I have taken other courses on farming, etc and they were short unprofessional courses that took around 1/2 hours.
I fully promote your business and don't want to cost you any business however I am just wondering for those of you that have completed the training was it worth it?
Lastly I make templates for sites and I was wondering who I would talk to about making a template for the homepage of your site?
Thank you
Have a Nice Day
